Smartphone already replaced point and shoot cameras. Every other smartphone that is being released now a days is equipped with good camera if not the best. So with the number of apps available in the Google play store, don’t you think your smartphone can even replace the dash cam in your car? Yes and Nexar is that app.
Nexar is a new Android app on the Play Store, aims to fix that. It is currently in “unreleased” status and turns any Android device into an AI-powered dash cam. To use this app, your Android phone should be running Android 4.1 or later and should have a rear camera.
Nexar app features what it calls “artificial intelligence” which adds luxury car-style proximity warnings, GPS tracking and video, direction and speed recording. Videos are dynamically stored so that only the latest recordings are retained (or the ones you specifically select), and can be shared with insurance companies if the need arises. And yes, Nexar can run in the background if you’re also using your phone for navigation or music.
So with all this dash cam features, don’t you think your smartphone battery will drain pretty fast? You are correct and that is the only downside I see in using this app so far. So make sure your phone is being charged while this app is running on your smartphone.
